The Recycling Council of Alberta is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1987. MISSION STATEMENT:To promote and facilitate waste reduction, recycling and resource conservation in the Province of Alberta.GOALS
The Recycling Council of Alberta's activities:INFORMATION EXCHANGEActs as an interface for information and dialogue between industries, governments, environmental groups and consumers.PUBLIC EDUCATIONDelivers public education programs and training seminars, across the province, on the benefits of waste minimization.MARKET DEVELOPMENTIn cooperation with Action on Waste, hosts the Enviro-Products Business Show that brings together buyers with suppliers of recycled products and services.Produces and distributes a comprehensive membership/product directory outlining member products and services, for use as a ''buy recycled'' guide by purchasers throughout the province. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTEncourages research in the recycling of waste materials, and development of effective waste minimization technologies.Develops position papers and advises government concerning recycling and waste minimization policies. ANNUAL FALL CONFERENCEHosts an annual conference that brings together stakeholders from around the province and throughout North America to promote and discuss waste reduction, recycling and resource recovery.THE CONNECTORPublishes a bi-monthly newsletter reporting on Alberta's recycling products and projects, new technologies, market conditions, and other items of concern to individuals involved in waste minimization.
