Established in 1955, General Smelting Company of Canada, a subsidiary of Noranda Inc., is one of the largest zinc, lead and tin smelting operations in North America. Specialty services related to the recycling and construction industries are also available. The company is located in the Montreal suburb of Lachine and products are distributed throughout North America, particularly in Eastern Canadian and American markets. We also provide precipitator maintenance services to acid plants around the world. Our parent company, Noranda Inc., is one of the world's premier mining and metallurgy companies. Noranda is a leading producer of zinc and nickel, as well as an important producer of copper, primary and wrought aluminum, lead, silver, gold, sulfuric acid and cobalt. In addition, Noranda is among the world's principal recyclers of copper, nickel and secondary precious metals.
