WoodPlanet is an aggregator of wood industry sites and wood industry information. Our Marketplace helps source material for companies like furniture manufacturers, lumber wholesalers, and retail lumberyards. If a company needs to purchase lumber, our staff of wood brokers will find those products. Our brokers have an average of 25 years in the industry. They act as traditional brokers in terms of locating material and understanding the needs of the buyers, but our brokers do not take a cut – they let the buyers and sellers negotiate to work out the deal. How does WoodPlanet’s Marketplace work? WoodPlanet is buyer-driven. Wood buyers do not want to go to a site to search through 7,000 listings of products that they do not care about. We just tell the buyers who the suppliers are based on the buyer’s product specifications. Buyers can then send a request-for-quote (rfq) to 20 suppliers with one click of the mouse. By meeting the needs of the buyers in this way, WoodPlanet is able to aggregate buyers for wood suppliers.
